As we begin the new year, you will see Lester in studio more often, as Nightly continues to explore important franchises including “Vaccinating America,” along with “Building Back America.” Tracy Snyder in News Partnerships will have more on these and other franchises in the coming weeks. Nightly producers are also planning special content for Black History Month.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH PLANNING
 

This year's focus for Black History Month will be the contributions of trailblazing Black Women (some material will include Black Men). Conversations continue to happen and ideas continue to firm up, but here's what we know now that we expect to deliver:

  • NEWS VIDEOS - 4 x :20-:40 videos to air in your newscasts from the Voices of the Civil Rights Movement (VOCRM) an initiative between Comcast and the Equal Justice Initiative.
  • WEB FEATURE - that includes 11 VOCRM essays and photos. The content cannot be sponsored; however you will be able to sell ad space around it.
  • PROMOS - featuring NBC Universal talent in varying lengths.
  • SOCIAL GFX - featuring trailblazing Black women and impactful quotes. (can be customized with your station logo)
  • LOCAL SPECIAL - at least one 30min special to air in local time periods on your main and digital channels. All the inventory is yours.
  • TODAY SHOW - Changemakers series will focus on Black Americans and who have gone above and beyond their respective industries creating history, fighting COVID, in Faith and in Space. You'll hear more from News Partnerships on opportunities to tie-in.

Six MONTHS to TOKYO – Friday, January 22nd
 

Two weeks from today will be our 6 months to Tokyo celebration on-air and online. The TODAY show will feature world class athletes, and #MyTodayPlaza will be filled with Olympic fans.
 
To help you join the celebration, you can expect:

"Nurses": Tie-In

Using the platform of the NBC prime show Nurses, Las Vegas station KSNV focused on a medical-related story in order to get flow to their #1 focus, prime to late news. KSNV tends to be a health-focused town in addition to casinos. NBC won Tuesday night in adults 25-54, led by the return of This is Us which was the number #1 show of the night among broadcast networks in adults, men and women 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-49. The season premiere of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist reached its highest audience in total viewers.
